Air service retention and development is highly competitive and requires community effort. Gaining new service often involves incentives to offset economic risks for airlines. Airports can offer limited fee waivers but cannot use their funds for incentives.
Through the Fly State College Fund, the State College Air Service Alliance raises community-generated funds to attract airlines. The Fly State College Fund is now open for contributions, ensuring the community is prepared to act when opportunities arise.

The Alliance is a partnership of local government, Penn State, businesses, and community organizations working together to strengthen and expand air service at State College Regional Airport (SCE).
Air service is critical for our community’s success. Reliable flights help businesses grow, attract new employers, support Penn State and local tourism, and make travel easier for residents. Without strong service, jobs and investment can leave the region.
Our partners include the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County, the Centre County Airport Authority, The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, and The Pennsylvania State University. Together, we are uniting resources and voices to protect and grow air service.
SCE offers nonstop flights to several major hubs, with easy connections across the U.S. and the world.
“Fly Local” is a community commitment: when residents and businesses choose to fly from SCE, we strengthen demand, reduce leakage to other airports, and send a clear message to airlines that our market is worth investing in.
Every ticket purchased at SCE helps improve our long-term air service. When we show strong passenger demand, airlines are more likely to add routes, increase competition, and bring down fares over time.
It’s a community-driven fund that provides revenue guarantees and marketing support to attract and retain air service. Our initial goal is $500,000, and we’ve already secured over $130,000 from partners including CBICC, HVAB, Penn State, and local municipalities.
